ineptus | Day One; After Body Announcement, Before House of Horrors in the afternoon

[Dipper was a little surprised when Mabel asked him to speak with her alone, but he followed all the same and when they arrived to her room, he leaned against the wall across from her bed.

With his arms in his vest pockets, he nods in agreement.]

Yeah, it all seems kind of pointless just for some stupid game show. [He may or may not believe the body announcement. He's got a deep feeling in his gut that it's true, but he doesn't want to believe it is until he's seen the body himself..]

Yeah but...I don't really think it's a game show anymore. Or if it is, it's a really, really awful one. I don't know why anyone would enjoy watching something like this.

[The girl just hangs her head a little, shoulders scrunching up as if she's trying to make herself a little smaller.]

The roles thing and the buddy system aren't fun additions to this game. They both make them a hundred times worse!

...aww, Mabel.. [He walks over and sits next to her, his expression a little sad and a little worried as he looks at her.]

It's annoying, but hopefully this entire game won't last long. I mean, game show or not, we were kidnapped for sure, and someone's gotta be looking for us and everyone else here, right?

...yeah. Yeah, definitely.

[That doesn't really help though, clearly.]

Dipper, what would you do if you could blow someone's bracelet up at any time? For any reason?

..What? [Where did that even]

Well...if you got a key that allowed you to detonate someone's bracelet at any time, what would you do?

...are you telling me you're one of the Detonators......?

[She whimpers and nods her head.] But I'm also asking you seriously! I really want to know...

Okay, let's say the bombs in our wrists are real and can actually kill someone, and you're giving me something that can detonate one at any time. [He places a hand to his chin.]

I'd hold onto it unless I had to use it?

[Mabel just kind of watches him for a moment after he gives her his answer and then nods.]

That's what I thought...

[She's still really twisted up over something though, and she looks at her lap and picks at her sweater a little.]

You're really smart, so you'd only use it if you needed to.

...don't you trust me, Mabel? [He's not sure what she's upset with, but if she were a detonator he'd figure she would have given him a key already.. so there must be some kind of trust issue here or something]

No! No...no I trust you...if my stupid partner wasn't stupid I would have given you a key last night but...she's stupid and she said all this stuff and...

[Well, when she looks back up at him, her eyes are watering and her shoulders are trembling just a little.]

Dipper, no matter what, you'd never kill me, right?

[Wait wait she has a partner? Or maybe it's a buddy? And said buddy/partner obviously said some pretty terrible stuff to make Mabel shaken up like this and wait what is she asking

He turns to the side and grabs her shaking shoulders, looking her dead in the eyes.]

I'd kill myself before you, Mabel.

[And here eyes just search his for a moment before she shakes off his hands, moving to hug him instead, face buried in his shoulder.]

[He hugs her back without hesitation, patting her back a little.]

No matter what any "partner" of yours tells you, you know me, Mabel. And I'd never ever kill you. Ever!

[Wow he actually feels a little offended at whomever this so called partner is.]

[Her grip tightens and she nods.]

Y-yeah! Just like I told her! She's just some stupid girl with...trust issues or something!

Sounds to me like you need a new partner. [If only that were possible..

Speaking of that, he pulls away from the hug, leaving one hand on her shoulder though.]

So out of curiosity, are you and your partners "buddies" or...

...y-yeah. We are. [And it leaves such a sour taste in her mouth.]

[WELL.. dang. ]

Ugh, that sucks.

I mean at least she wants to protect us both? But after what she said about us I don't want to work with her ever again basically!

No, Mabel you don't understand what this means. [He takes his hand off her shoulder and covers his eyes with both of his hands, letting out a sigh.]

I have a "buddy" too, which means we both have double the chance of getting killed in this game! [Even though they previously established it was all definitely totally a joke and no one is going to die ever, he seems very stressed.]

[Mabel...Mabel just wilts at that information. She looks like she just wants to lay down and maybe cry a little...]

[But...there has to be a silver lining to this. There has to. After a few moments of thought, she manages a small, albeit sad smile.]

A-at. At least we have...an alliance. Alliances are good in these situations, right? You and I will definitely not let each other die, so...we won't let them die either. Even if my buddy is possibly worse than Pacifica.

Yeah, at least there's that. [He doesn't seem to be feeling much better though........]

[That's okay, she's not really either.]

We just have to be careful. We'll just be super extra careful! And also super, extra adorable, so that nobody will even want to kill us. Because...

[She does a little counting on her fingers.]

The special guests...they just need to outnumber us to win right...? So...they don't have to kill the four of us.

[God, she hates that she's even saying any of this, but suddenly everything is very, very real and very, very awful.]
