Hey there! You've reached Mabel and Waddles Pines! I guess we managed to miss each other, but leave a message and I will of course get back to you asap!
[Rei had actually intended to give Mabel a little gift as well, but the very thoughtful card had just happened to have arrived first. Either way, Mabel will find a fairly decent sized parcel on the doorstep too, along with a note.]
Dear Mabel,
Thank you for the card and the gift. I would love to have lunch and hang out with you sometime. You're a very sweet little girl, and I'd like to get to know you better.
I hope you enjoy your gifts. The top of the box has something cooked, so open that before Christmas, but the little one underneath won't spoil.
Enjoy,
火野レイ
[Inside, regardless of when it's opened, Mabel will find a tray of homemade mochi, mostly pink in color but with a few white and brown ones mixed in for variety. And underneath is a squishy stuffed black cat with a crescent moon on the forehead. It looks like it's been handmade, at that.]
[She does as told, saving the second gift for Christmas but opening the first one almost immediately when the note says too. And oh my goodness what are these? They're so cute??? CUTE FOOD. She takes a taste of one of the pink ones immediately and wow they're so good probably eating a few of them a little fast--]
WOW!!! These are super good!!!! I've never had them before, what are they? Oh, thank you very much for the gift! I'm saving the second one for Christmas, so I'll probably thank you then too, but I had to thank you for whatever these are!
[Rei hadn't expected that quick a response, but she answers the text quickly. Texting is easy enough for a 90s kid to grasp at least. And she's genuinely pleased to hear that they're liked.]
I'm so glad you like them, Mabel-chan. They're called Mochi, and I had hoped you'd find them appealing. They're made out of rice that was pounded into a paste, and I added some coloring and sugar to make them even sweeter. Have you never seen them before?
12/23 Christmas Delivery!
